“The United Nations recently said that this region is the poorest region in the world and extreme poverty is particularly entrenched in Sub-Saharan Africa. We, the Church, can change this.”

Where We Find the Most Vulnerable

“There is a story in the Bible in which a man called Nehemiah sees the city of his people is in ruins. He calls others to come and help him to repair the walls of protection. And so together, they began the good work. We’ve always seen the brokenness and destruction in Nehemiah as a picture of the brokenness and destruction amongst the most vulnerable communities in Africa. Like the community of Tsatse in Zimbabwe….”

Children’s Advent Calendar

This Christmas, we invite you to download our Advent Calendar to share with your family, Sunday school group or young people in your life. Together, in creative ways, you will learn more about what sharing the light of Christ can look like in your life, your community and in the lives of the most vulnerable across Africa as we count down to the birth of Christ, the light of the world.

ILLUMINATE PODCAST

Each year, our "Meanwhile in Africa..." Podcast becomes something new for the Advent season. Our seasonal podcast series, “illuminate”, will focus on some of the people who we know and love in the Goma area of the Democratic Republic of Congo. Hope, joy, love and peace are the hallmarks of Advent, and these are what we pray for as we meet Jesus in these stories. Listen to “illuminate” each Friday from December 1st to December 22nd.

Advent PRAYER APP

This Advent, join us by following along with the Hands at Work prayer app, where we will share prayer points focusing on our commitment to finding the most vulnerable children in the most vulnerable communities across Africa.

GIVE

We invite you to give and join us in being a part of this mission to reach the most vulnerable across Africa.

“Like Nehemiah, we have been called to gather the local church to rebuild the walls of protection for our children. In such brokenness, they just need help to know where to start, someone to give a vision of what could be rebuilt.”
