Prayer and Praise for 2017

God has brought us through another year, and given us a fresh new year to let Him work in and through us. Reflecting on 2016, God has raised up new volunteers and sent teams to Africa, brought new churches on board, encouraged us through a visit by George Snyman, and showed us more of His unending and beautiful love for His people. It is our hope that you have been able to reflect on God’s goodness in your life, no matter the joys and trials that 2016 brought.

This year again, God’s hand is faithfully at work in Australia, Africa, and across the world. Please join us in prayer, committing this year of our Lord back into His hands. Pray for the things we hope for, and praise Him for the things He has done.

Hebrews 4:16 – Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
Isaiah 61:1-2 – The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the afflicted; he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to captives and freedom to prisoners; to proclaim the favourable year of the Lord and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all who mourn.

PRAISE POINTS

  • Praise God for the long-term Australian volunteers who dedicated 2016 to serving God in Africa. Thank Him for the teams and visitors who were able to spend time in Africa this past year, building relationships with Care Workers, children, and long-term volunteers.

  • Thank God for the growth in church partners and advocates over 2016! Praise Him for new churches and individuals who have caught Hands at Work’s vision to care for the most vulnerable people.

  • Praise God for sufficient funds for 2016! God is always faithful, and our partners and advocates have been able to generously give to support many children across Africa.

PRAYER POINTS

  • Pray for the Board and Management Teams who are a part of Hands Australia. As they voluntarily advocate and give their time for the most vulnerable children and families, ask for God’s wisdom and guidance as they continue in this work and begin a new year.

  • Pray God would continue to unite partners and advocates as His Church. Pray for opportunities for more churches to be involved in the work happening in Africa.

  • Lift up new and existing volunteers volunteers who are dedicating their time this year to spend in Africa, serving with Hands at Work. Pray for the teams heading to Africa from various churches, that each member would be impacted greatly, and their relationship with Jesus would grow.

  • Pray that the busyness of life would not distract the Church in Australia from God’s heart to care for the most vulnerable people, both globally and locally.
