Join Us in Prayer for the Cholera Outbreak in Zambia

Hands at Work has recently become aware of a serious and growing outbreak of cholera in the Kabwe and Copperbelt regions of Zambia. In Kabwe, over 2000 cases have been confirmed so far and in response, the government have banned all public meetings of over 5 people – bringing closure to churches, community groups, and - across all of Zambia - schools and educational establishments. On 6th January 2018, it was reported that the cholera outbreak has now spread to the Copperbelt region.

Our Response

Hands at Work are in the process of evaluating how our Community Based Organisation’s (CBO) will operate across Zambia during this season under the current government regulations. We are looking at alternative solutions to ensure the most vulnerable children continue to have access to important daily services.

We will be able to share more in the coming days and weeks about the effect this crisis is having on our CBOs, and how Hands at Work is seeking to respond. Our support to the most vulnerable children remains our top priority. We encourage you to stand with us in prayer for the health and wellbeing of all those we seek to support.

Update:

Thank you for your prayers for Zambia during the recent outbreak of cholera. We can now report that all our children are receiving their daily meal again across Zambia! Schools have re-opened and life is slowly returning to normal.

We serve such a faithful God and we deeply appreciate the way that the Hands at Work family around the world have come around this situation in prayer. We encourage you to continue praying that the cholera situation will continue to be managed well across Zambia.
