40 Days of Prayer

40 Days of Prayer - Week 6

WEEK 6 – The Example of Jesus: Relationships

Gideon Mbuzi, African Volunteer (Zambia), shares the prayer focus for this week: The Example of Jesus: Relationships

Word became flesh and blood, and moved into the neighbourhood - John 1:14 (MSG)

God chose to appear in human form through His Son Jesus, to have a relationship with each of us. As He wanted to know us, so we are called to know others.

40 Days of Prayer - Fifth Sunday

On Sundays, we pause to anticipate the coming of Easter Sunday and the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Jesus said, ‘The time has come for me, the Son of Man, to enter into my glory, and God will receive glory because of all that happens to me. And God will bring me into my glory very soon. Dear children, how brief are these moments before I must go away and leave you! Then, though you search for me, you cannot come to me – just as I told the Jewish leaders. So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.’ – John 13:31-35 (NIV)

40 Days of Prayer - Day 28

Day 28 – Youth Camps

“You are my witnesses,” declares the Lord, “and my servant whom I have chosen, that you may know and believe me and understand that I am he. Before me no god was formed, nor shall there be any after me. – Isaiah 43:10

In Zambia, youth camps are hosted by the Hands at Work Local Office Teams and the Regional Support Teams at Kachele Village. At these camps, the youth spend several days learning about Jesus and what it means to be a servant leader. Pray for the children to have a deep understanding of who Christ is and can be in their lives. Pray for our youth to know and believe the unconditional love of Christ and that in turn, they will have a desire to serve the other children.

40 Days of Prayer - Day 27

Day 27 – Youth Leaders

The LORD your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing. – Zephaniah 3:17

We dream of seeing the youth in the communities that we are serving, actively involved and engaged at the Care Points. It can be a challenge being a youth in the most vulnerable communities, as societal and family pressures can lead them to make negative decisions which in many cases, can have a direct impact on their future. Pray that as Care Workers and Hands at Work Local Office Teams invest into their lives, the youth will make positive life choices. Pray for our youth to experience the love and hope of Christ. Ask God to fill the youth with love, grace and patience as they help to serve the younger children at the Care Point.

So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness. – Colossians 2:6-7

Hands at Work is committed to continually growing and developing our African Leaders into men and women of love and compassion. Ask God to deepen their understanding of the truth and promises in God’s word and His desire for their lives.

My Calling: Michael Mwila

"Through serving and working with different people, I am a changed person. Not just in the communities, but in my family. I am a leader at my church because of the things that I have gone through and now people can trust me. If I was where I had been, than maybe I wouldn’t be alive, but God saved my life. That's why I also want to serve, to give life to other people."
