40 Days of Prayer

40 Days of Prayer - Day 27

Day 27 – Youth Leaders

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. – Jeremiah 29:11

Hands at Work dreams of seeing the youth in Africa actively involved and engaged at their community’s Care Point or Life Centre. There are many societal and family pressures that can lead young people to make negative decisions, impacting their future. Pray for those individuals who will be speaking and investing into the lives of the youth. Ask God to give the youth hearts that are open to the love of Christ. These youth are the next generation of leaders!

40 Days of Prayer - Day 26

Day 26 – Women and Girls

‘This poor man called, and the LORD heard him; he saved him out of all his troubles.’ – Psalm 34:6

Hands at Work is committed to championing the worthiness of women and girls in the most vulnerable communities across Africa. It is common for women to be looked down upon, taken advantage of, or thought of as ‘less than’. Please pray for Hands at Work to champion the brave women who care and support the most vulnerable. Ask God to protect not only their hearts and minds but also their physical health, as they live in areas where incidences such as physical abuse are common.

Ma Anita, African Volunteer (South Africa), and Ma Nester, a former Hands at Work volunteer, are two of the many incredible women across Africa who have dedicated their lives to serving the most vulnerable children, like Peter*. Today, we invite you to read a story about these two incredible women running towards the problem and fighting for the lost one

40 Days of Prayer - Day 25

Day 25 – Hands at Work Local Office Teams

‘And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.’ – Hebrews 10:24-25

Across Africa, Hands at Work has Local Teams who are committed to serving the Care Workers and children in their surrounding area. Each of them has chosen to live sacrificially, and many times go against aspects of their culture. Pray for boldness and perseverance as they remain united in Jesus.

40 Days of Prayer - Day 24

Day 24 – New African Leaders

‘Then he called the crowd to him along with his disciples and said: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.”’ – Mark 8:34

From the outset, a strong emphasis is placed on seeing African Leaders of Hands at Work grow in their walk with Christ and offer sacrificial service to the most vulnerable. Ask God to raise more leaders with hearts of grace and compassion, who desire to seek God’s Kingdom above all.

40 Days of Prayer - Fourth Sunday

On Sundays we pause to anticipate the coming of Easter Sunday and the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Jesus said, ‘The time has come for me, the Son of Man, to enter into my glory, and God will receive glory because of all that happens to me. And God will bring me into my glory very soon. Dear children, how brief are these moments before I must go away and leave you! Then, though you search for me, you cannot come to me – just as I told the Jewish leaders. So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.’ – John 13:31-35 (NIV)

40 Days of Prayer - Day 22

Day 22 – Basic Health Care

‘He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the ash heap; he seats them with princes and has them inherit a throne of honor. For the foundations of the earth are the LORD’s; on them he has set the world.’ – 1 Samuel 2:8

It’s very challenging for the most vulnerable communities to have access to medical care. A lack of local clinics equipped with the necessary treatment makes accessing health care difficult. Pray for the health of our children and for Hands at Work to have wisdom in knowing how to address the medical challenges that arise.
