Who We Are

Hands at Work envisions the local church in Africa united with the International Church around the world, serving together to care for the most vulnerable people in the poorest African communities.

Hands at Work in Africa (UK) exists to create and nurture long-term relationships between the Church in the UK and the communities that Hands at Work supports, which are some of the most vulnerable in Africa.

We believe the Biblical mandate to care for the dying, widowed and orphaned is not only for the Church in Africa but also for elsewhere, and that Hands at Work in Africa (UK) is a prophetic voice to the Church in the UK, challenging them to fulfil their mandate. By fulfilling this mandate we demonstrate the love of God, and the lives of all involved are transformed, both in the UK and in Africa.

We are committed to nurturing existing partnerships as well as building new ones with UK churches and organisations, which send both teams on partnership visits and long-term volunteers. This helps us support the orphaned and vulnerable children in the communities we serve.

Hands at Work in Africa (UK) was incorporated as a company limited by guarantee on 25 July 2006 (no. 05886060) and became a registered charity on 4 January 2007 (no. 1117446). Our main objectives are to serve the people of Africa by relieving poverty and suffering, promoting good health and increasing life expectancy, and advancing education and training.
