Cable cars and the famous golden gate bridge might be the first things that come to mind when you think of San Francisco, but the city is also known for its love of art. When a vision to use many talented artists within the church to raise awareness of poverty and AIDS in Africa came together last year, it all made perfect sense! On May 12, 2012, Christ Church hosted an art benefit where various artwork that had been donated by nine artists went on display for a silent auction. While people browsed the artwork various musicians filled the evening with live music. It was truly a group effort as many people contributed their time, gifts and skills to make this happen from organizational, artistic, web hospitality, catering, music and carpentry. Not only did the benefit raise over $1,800, but it also served as a great opportunity to connect with the local community.
