MY LIFE: PRUDENCE GWISHIRI, AFRICAN LEADER (ZIMBABWE)

"Over the last few years, I've seen a drastic change in my life. I've had friends that challenge the way I think and do things. I've had friends who have encouraged me to put God first in everything I do. I used to look at the Hands at Work Bible studies readings as something religious and something that we do to pass time, but it's been through those times that God has spoken to me and brought a change to my life.

I've seen a lot of prayers being answered. I've seen God's provision in my life, even at times when I’ve lacked faith. During a recent Bible school I learned the true meaning of discipleship, and that is not just evangelising and telling people about God, but being willing to be personally involved with the people who are struggling and being willing to get my hands dirty.

That really spoke to me because I've never been that person that is willing to get my hands dirty. I've seen with my own eyes that as God promises in Luke 28 to be with you always when you go to make disciples, that it is true and that when you take that step, God is there with you.

I used to not be able to stand in front of people and speak before the nerves got a hold of me and the waterworks started. If I get asked to share in meetings or at the Care Point with the Care Workers or children, I’m able to do it, which is something that I'd never been able to do previously. The possibility of being randomly asked to share something has allowed me to stay prepared at all times and stay close to God. The amount of time we spend digging deeper into God’s words has allowed me to think of that word in more practical ways instead of simply reading it and forgetting about it."
