Week 5 - Hands at Work around the World
Bernard playing with children in Mulenga, ZambiaPray God will send His hand-picked servants to Hands at Work in Africa and internationally. Ask Him to reveal those willing to serve and grow into long-term volunteers. Pray He will provide financially, emotionally, and spiritually for those who make the choice to answer His call to serve the most vulnerable.
Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain - 1 Corinthians 15:58 (NIV)

Julia Essmann, Hands at Work volunteer (Germany), reflects on the impact volunteering with Hands has had on her, her husband Bernard, and their children:
“In 2008 we spent a year with our three children with Hands at Work in Africa. Returning back home to Germany we had the deep desire to contribute to the work of Hands at Work as much as we could. When I asked my 14-year-old daughter Maria about her experience volunteering she said, ‘Volunteering for Hands is a win/win thing’. It inspires us to see what the love and protection of the Care Workers Julia with Care Workers in Kambove, DRCdoes in the life of individual children, transforming them into healthy and healing children. We are also blessed and privileged to work hand in hand with the Hands family in Africa. Our time with them continues to teach us much about love and faith. Giving some of our time and financial resources is so little in comparison to their incredible commitment.” – Julia
