COVID-19

Day 8 – COVID-19 Pandemic

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. – Philippians 4:6-7

The COVID-19 pandemic has been devastating for people worldwide. For those living in already difficult circumstances it has further compounded their sense of fear and uncertainty in how they will provide for their families. In the midst of this crisis, Hands at Work is committed to caring for our children as well as equipping our Care Workers and Primary Caregivers with the resources that they need, so that when a crisis comes, they are better able to withstand it. Ask God to give Hands at Work leaders wisdom and guidance as we continue caring for the children. Pray for God’s peace and comfort to come around those who are consumed with fear. Pray for open borders to enable people to travel and support the most vulnerable.

Day 16 - Teams

Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy. – Proverbs 31:8-9

Throughout the history of Hands at Work, many of our partners have sent teams to Africa on a yearly basis. In 2020 however, many of those partners were unable to send teams due to the pandemic. Pray for each team member, that they will experience peace in the uncertainty. Pray that they will trust in God’s timing and His plan for 2021. Pray for the partnerships unable to send teams; that they will still feel connected and part of the work that is happening in Africa.

Day 9 - COVID-19 Pandemic

‘Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.’ - John 14:27

When the COVID-19 pandemic hit Africa, the vulnerability of those living in communities served by Hands at Work significantly increased. Through our ministry of home-based care and in providing central places – known as Care Points – for children to gather in daily to access essential services, Hands at Work continues to reach out. Ask God to give Hands at Work wisdom and guidance as we continue to serve our children and pray for peace for those who are living in fear.

When the government tells you to observe social distancing and you live in a remote village in Mozambique, how can you help your community to apply the rules? 16-year-old Joseph* took it upon himself to try and find a solution to help protect the children who attend the Care Point in Chigodole, Mozambique.
